40th Birthday

Today I am going to a birthday-party of my colleague. He turned 40 on February 16th, but as always he went on holidays, so that he doesn't have to celebrate his birthday...
Well, his girlfriend thought, that's not going to happen this year... He WILL be celebrating his 40th birthday and organized a surprise party for him.

Here's the card I made for him.

The text on the front side means "Men don't get older, they get better!".

And the text on the inside means "With the forties it starts being old for the young ones, with the fifties it starts being young for the old ones.  - Saying of the Zulu's (South Africa)"

Stamp: "Gus Birthday recount" from Bugaboo Stamps, Happy Birthday background stamp from Inkandikado
Sentiment: WordArt
Ink pad in black, brown, blue
Colours: Polychromos from Faber Castell, Joy Crafts Decorative Chalks
Sketch: Critter Challenge
Dies: Spellbinders Nestabilities
Punch: stars border die from Martha Stewart
Papers:wrapping paper
Ribbon, plain papers and cardstock from my stash.

I am entering the card in the following challenges:

critter challenge 103 - sketch

  1. Hi Melanie: This is hilarious. I wonder what people think when we send them these bugaboos for their birthdays. I do it too! Aren't they the best - and I LOVE the intense colors you have used for it...it just brings it alive in the most wonderful way. The inside is as nice as the outside. Thanks for showing that, even when it is personal. Great that you brought it over to SENTIMENTALS this week. See you soon I hope. LOVE AND HAPPINESS, Samara
